The main artery of Bangkok's Chinatown. Notable for being a trading hub for Chinese community. The area is well known for its variety of foodstuffs. It also turns into a large "food street" at night that draws tourists and locals from all over the city.

Taking place in the Grand Palace, the funeral was marked as the end year of mourning. Thousands of attendees dressed in black, prostrated themselves and wept as the funeral urn of their former king Bhumibol, the world’s longest-reigning monarch, was carried by chariot to the cremation pyre.

At the heart of the most sacred Buddhist temple in Thailand, houses the great statue of the Emerald Buddha, a religion symbol of Thai society. It is located in Phra Nakhon District, the historic center of Bangkok, within the precincts of the Grand Palace.

Formerly, Lat Phrao was a sub-district of Bang Kapi, which was in Phra Nakhon province back then. Then the unification of Thonburi and Phra Nakhon merge them into the single administrative area, becoming "Bangkok" as we are in today.
Bangkok Society in the 60s'
Disproportionate urban development led to increasing income inequalities and unprecedented migration from rural areas into Bangkok. Its population surged from 1.8 to 3 million in the 1960s. Following the United States' withdrawal from Vietnam in 1973, Japanese businesses took over as leaders in investment, and the expansion of export-oriented manufacturing led to growth of the financial market in Bangkok.
